Coming soon: The Economic Wellbeing Explorer. Now with GB-wide insights for the public sector, NGOs and researchers.

Be the first to know

We're expanding the Economic Wellbeing Explorer to offer a clearer picture of financial wellbeing across Great Britain, with timely, local-level data drawn from real-world financial behaviours.

Built using anonymised private sector data donated for public good, the platform gives a valuable window into how people and communities are doing financially; helping to support better decisions, policies, and outcomes. Zoom in and out between national and regional views, or make granular local comparisons at MSOA/LAD level.

Whether you work in national or local government, policy, research, the third sector, or simply care about economic wellbeing, this extension opens up new opportunities to understand and act.

Come to the launch event

Join us on 5th November at Scotland House for the launch of the expanded Economic Wellbeing Explorer.

Originally developed for Scotland, the Explorer now brings together anonymised data from over five million NatWest Group accounts, official statistics, and open data to provide a powerful, local-to-national view of income, spending, and financial resilience for England, Scotland and Wales.

Designed to support better policymaking, research, and community action, the platform reveals hidden patterns and regional inequalities to help answer vital questions about economic wellbeing and inclusive growth.

The event, chaired by Scotland’s Chief Statistician Ally McAlpine, will include a live demonstration of the platform’s new capabilities by Smart Data Foundry’s Dougie Robb and Rui Cardoso.
