One of Edinburgh Futures Institute PhD Candidates and Smart Data Foundry collaborator Savina Kim has recently written a whitepaper that has a critical call to action to address fairness and bias concerns in algorithm-assisted decision making. Savina’s whitepaper proposes the development of a fairness management framework, beginning with a Fairness Health Check, that can be used as a starting point to evaluate Machine Learning Systems and determine whether fairer outcomes can be achieved.
